Tooth whitening can be carried out at
home.
Only a dentist can get your teeth their
whitest.
Everyday use of coffee, soda and staining
foods can dull and darken teeth. The active whitening
ingredients in Day White ACP, Carbamide Peroxide and Hydrogen
Peroxide, can safely and effectively whiten even the most
difficult stains.
Additionally, Day White is the only
take-home whitening brand with patented ACP technology. ACP
fills tooth surface defects to restore enamel luster for a
white, bright, healthy smile.
Day White is a two-component tooth
whitening system. The resulting blend is a revolutionary
whitener that produces beautiful white teeth in just days.
Day White is a mild solution containing a
unique blend of natural soothers, conditioners and flavour
enhancers. It is dispensed to patients by a dental professional,
but applied by the patient at home using a comfortable and
inconspicuous tray.
Unlike conventional overnight take-home
tooth whitening systems that may require up to eight hours of
wear time, Day White achieves the same results in only 30
minutes twice a day.
During your diagnostic visit, your dental
professional will take impressions of your teeth. This allows
your dentist to make a custom gel-holding whitening tray
appliance called a whitening tray.
At your second visit, you will be fitted
with a take home whitening kit. You will also be given specific
instructions on how to administer the gel and how often to wear
your tray.
Follow the take-home directions and those
of your dentist. Continue to maintain proper oral hygiene
through brushing and flossing.

What is tooth whitening?
What causes tooth discoloration?
-
There are many causes. The most common
include aging, consumption of staining substances (coffee,
tea, colas, tobacco), trauma, nerve degeneration, and old
restorations. During tooth formation, consumption of
tetracycline or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth
discoloration.
Who may benefit from tooth
whitening?
-
The vast majority of people will
benefit from tooth whitening. However, there are some cases
where the treatment may not be effective. A dentist may
determine viable candidates for the process through a
thorough oral examination and diagnosis. Darker stains, such
as those caused by antibiotics, may take longer to respond
to treatment. The degree of whiteness will vary from patient
to patient, depending on the structure of the teeth, the
number of applications, and/or the duration of time that the
system is used.
Is the process safe?
How does it work?
How long does it take?
Are there any side effects?
How long do the results last?
-
The teeth will always be lighter than
they once were; however, some patients may need a tooth
whitening "touch-up" for 1-2 days, once or twice a year. In
order to maintain the whitest tooth shade possible, it is
best to avoid substances like coffee, tea, red wine and
tobacco.
Every child starts off in life with
beautiful white teeth, but strongly coloured foods and drinks
like coffee, tea and cola can discolour the surface of your
teeth. After a time the staining can penetrate deep inside of
your teeth. Just like white clothing that picks up dye, they can
never regain their original brightness. The beyond whitening
system cleans both the surface and the internal structure of the
teeth.
The whitening process will whiten teeth for
people that have teeth stained by smoking or substances, like
tea or coffee. It can also whiten teeth stained by tetracycline,
specked by fluoride, or yellowed by medication or hereditary
discolouration.
The science of tooth whitening has been in
development for over a hundred years, the beyond system has
taken whitening to a new level of safety and comfort. Their
combination of cold light technology and proprietary gel
formulation combines to whiten teeth to their brightest in one
hour.
The beyond cold light is a tooth whitening
machine that uses a narrow beam of high-intensity blue light
with a wavelength of between 480 and 520 nanometres, any harmful
infrared and ultraviolet light is removed with an special
optical process.
The beyond cold light is used to activate
the Hydrogen peroxide gel that has been placed onto the teeth.
This helps to oxidize the gel which in turn whitens the teeth,
restoring them to a beautiful white.
This technique whitens your teeth right
away, and has no side effects. Unlike some whitening treatments,
the beyond system whitens without damage. The beyond system uses
cold light at a low temperature, it can't irritate the nerves of
the teeth. The whitening fluid is water based and doesn't come
into contact with your gums and will not damage your tooth or
tooth enamel.
Tests have proved that after whitening with
beyond the teeth score from 5 to 14 points higher on the VITA
scale. Vita is a universal shade guide, which determines the
shade that your teeth are. The results of the whitening will
depend on the discolouration of the teeth in the beginning, but
the end results will be whiter and brighter.
How long the whitening lasts will vary from
person to person, and it does depend on your diet. Normally the
effects can last for up to two years.
If you decide that you wish to have
whitening the first step is to book a 5 minute appointment with
the dentist. He will then be able to access your suitability for
the whitening process. The whitening process is only able to
whiten natural teeth. Crowns and fills can not be whitened. The
first step for your whitening appointment is to coat your gums
with a liquid rubber. This is done as a protective measure to
ensure that the whitening fluid can't come into contact with
them. The liquid rubber is then cured with an ultraviolet light,
the same that is used if you have a composite filling.
The whitening gel is then placed on the
tooth surface. The cold light tooth whitening machine is then
placed in front of your teeth, and is then activated for
appropriately eight minutes. This activates the gel, and the
whitening process starts. After the allotted time is up, the
whitening gel is then cleaned from the teeth. Then the second
application of gel is applied, and activated in the same way.
This process it normally continued for three cycles.
Once all the cycles have been completed the
cured rubber material is removed, and you can then
admire you bright new smile.
After the treatment for the first 24 hours
you need to avoid, smoking, drinking coffee, tea, red wine, cola
and other dark coloured drinks, as well as spicy and dark foods.
It is also best to avoid coloured mouthwash
and toothpaste.
These items may affect the whiteness of
your teeth.
You may experience some sensitivity from
the whitening process but you should find that this will go
within 24 hours. If the sensitivity persists then please contact
your dentist.
The whitening effects should usually last
for two years, but this does vary from person to person, and
also depends on your diet.
You can maintain your smile in the comfort
of your own home. After a Beyond in-office whitening session
many patients chose to maintain their new white smile with Pearl
White toothpaste. Also available is the Beyond take-home
maintenance kit.
